Meridian Community Real Estate Information
Meridian is the third largest city in Idaho, trailing closely behind Boise and Nampa. Known as the fastest growing city in the state, Meridian is located about 10 miles from the state capitol in Boise.
Meridian was once a fertile farming community known for its grains, vegetables, and fruits. Dairy products were also produced locally for many years, starting with the first Meridian Creamery in 1897.
During the past 20 years, farms have yielded to residential homes as people have flocked to the beautiful landscape. The valley has seen explosive growth as people have moved into the area to take advantage of the city’s growing career opportunities.
Meridian is home to the corporate headquarters of United Heritage, Western Electronics, and Arnold Machinery. Other regional, national and international companies are headquartered in neighboring Boise. There is a growing job market in Meridian as businesses abound in the city and surrounding areas.
Meridian also provides residents with an excellent education system. Schools rank among the highest in the state and there are dozens of opportunities for continuing education in the surrounding area.
The educational opportunities draw families to Meridian on a regular basis. The city caters to the ever changing needs of families by providing a variety of youth oriented activities such as optimist sports leagues and a local Boys and Girls Club.
Opportunities to enjoy the beautiful outdoors abound in Meridian. Residents enjoy golfing, hiking, fishing, and hunting. Many enjoy kayaking or river rafting on the swift streams in the area. Meridian is situated in the perfect spot for adrenaline junkies, thanks to the difference in elevation between the valley floor (about 2,600 feet above sea level) and the mountains (over 7,000 feet). Excellent ski resorts are settled within 1 hour of the city, just waiting for residents to enjoy the snow-covered slopes.
During the summer, Meridian residents flock to Roaring Springs Water Park, located just west of Boise off of I-84. This summer paradise features huge water slides and cool pools to give residents some fun relief from the relentless heat of Idaho’s summers.
Residents also enjoy going to races at Meridian Speedway, where colorful stock cars entertain fans every Saturday from April through September. You can also catch special events including monster truck demonstrations and motorcycle races at the speedway.
No matter how you like to spend you time, beautiful Meridian offers something just for you. The gorgeous valley setting provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy life on a daily basis.
